Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough (13.8 oz)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh spinach, chopped (or 1 cup thawed frozen spinach, well drained)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Red bell pepper, diced
  • Fresh parsley or rosemary sprigs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, mozzarella, Parmesan, spinach, garlic, black pepper, and nutmeg. Stir until smooth.
  3. Gently stretch pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to about 14×10 inches. Cut in half lengthwise to create two rectangles.
  4. Spread spinach dip mixture evenly on one half of the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Place the other half of dough on top and press gently to seal edges.
  5. Cut dough into a large triangle for the tree and two small rectangles for the trunk. Save scraps for mini breadsticks.
  6. Starting at the base of the triangle, make horizontal cuts about 1 inch apart, stopping 1 inch from the center. Repeat on both sides. Twist each branch a few times.
  7. Brush the tree and trunk with beaten egg. Sprinkle with garlic powder, Italian herbs, and kosher salt. Decorate with diced red bell pepper and parsley or rosemary sprigs.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and filling is bubbling. Check at 18 minutes if your oven runs hot.
  9. Cool for 5 minutes before serving. Serve warm, with extra dip if desired.

Notes

Don’t overfill the breadsticks to prevent splitting. Use parchment paper for easy cleanup and best results. Egg wash gives a golden shine. Twist branches gently to avoid filling spills. Prep dip and dough ahead for easy assembly. Squeeze spinach thoroughly if using frozen. Decorate with pomegranate seeds, olives, or chili flakes for variety.
