A warm and comforting Irish coffee featuring strong brewed coffee, smooth Irish whiskey, brown sugar, and a luxuriously creamy whipped topping. Perfect for cozy nights, holiday mornings, or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 oz (180 ml) freshly brewed hot strong coffee
  • 1.5 oz (45 ml) Irish whiskey (Jameson recommended)
  • 12 tsp packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cold heavy cream (for whipping)
  • A splash of vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 tsp powdered sugar (optional, for whipped cream)

Instructions

  1. Brew about 6 oz (180 ml) of strong, hot coffee per serving.
  2. Warm your glass by pouring hot water into it, then discard the water after a minute.
  3. Add 1-2 teaspoons of packed brown sugar to the bottom of the warmed glass.
  4. Pour 1.5 oz (45 ml) Irish whiskey into the glass.
  5. Slowly add 6 oz (180 ml) hot coffee over the whiskey and sugar, stirring gently until sugar dissolves.
  6. In a chilled bowl, whip 2 tablespoons of cold heavy cream with 1 teaspoon powdered sugar and a splash of vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  7. Gently float the whipped cream over the coffee using the back of a spoon to create a layered effect.
  8. Serve immediately and sip the coffee through the creamy topping without stirring.

Notes

Use strong brewed coffee for best flavor. Preheat glassware to keep coffee warm longer. Whip cream to soft peaks, not stiff. Float whipped cream gently over coffee without mixing. For dairy-free version, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream. Granulated sugar can be used instead of brown sugar but brown sugar adds richer flavor. Chill bowl and whisk before whipping cream if cream isn’t thickening.
