A creamy, flavorful cheese ball coated with toasted pecans, perfect for cozy gatherings and easy to prepare with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (100 g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 cup (100 g) toasted pecans, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Toast the pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently until fragrant and lightly browned. Transfer to a plate and let cool.
  2. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it at room temperature for about 30 minutes or microwaving for 10 seconds if short on time.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded sharp cheddar, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Blend with a hand mixer or spoon until smooth and creamy.
  4. Stir in the chopped parsley, sliced green onions (if using), salt, and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  5. Lay out a large piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Spoon the cheese mixture onto the center and gather the edges to form a ball. Twist the wrap tightly to shape evenly. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to firm up.
  6. Once chilled, unwrap the cheese ball and roll it gently in the toasted pecans until fully coated.
  7. Place the finished cheese ball on a serving plate. Chill briefly again if desired or serve immediately with crackers, sliced baguette, or fresh veggies.

Notes

Room temperature cream cheese is key for smooth texture. Toast pecans until golden but not burnt. Chill the cheese ball for at least 2 hours to firm up. Can be made a day ahead for better flavor. For dairy-free, use coconut cream cheese and vegan cheddar. Pecans can be swapped with walnuts or almonds.
