A quick and easy fruity fluff dessert combining fresh strawberries, creamy whipped topping, and crunchy pretzels for a perfect sweet and salty treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 ½ cups mini pretzels, roughly crushed
  • 8 ounces whipped topping (such as Cool Whip), thawed
  • 1 (3.4-ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%; dairy-free options like almond milk can substitute)
  • 23 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
  • Optional: 1 cup banana slices

Instructions

  1. Rinse 4 cups of fresh strawberries under cold water, then hull and slice into bite-sized pieces. Set aside in a small bowl.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 1 package (3.4 ounces) of instant vanilla pudding mix with 1 cup of cold milk. Whisk for about 2 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Let it rest for 5 minutes to fully set.
  3. Gently fold 8 ounces (about 1 cup) of thawed whipped topping into the pudding using a spatula, being careful not to overmix to keep the airy texture intact.
  4. Stir in 2-3 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
  5. Toss the sliced strawberries with 1 ½ cups of roughly crushed mini pretzels in the pudding mixture. Fold gently to coat evenly without crushing the pretzels too much.
  6. If using, fold in chopped nuts and/or banana slices now.
  7. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to let flavors meld and pretzels soften slightly.

Notes

Be gentle when folding in whipped topping and pretzels to maintain fluffiness and crunch. Use gluten-free pretzels and pudding mix for gluten-free version. For extra crunch, reserve some crushed pretzels to sprinkle on top before serving. Chill at least 1 hour; best served chilled. Leftovers keep up to 2 days refrigerated; add fresh pretzels before serving to maintain crunch.
