A quick and easy recipe for crispy, juicy chicken thighs cooked in an air fryer and coated with a sticky, flavorful honey-garlic glaze. Perfect for weeknight dinners with simple pantry ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 1.5 lbs / 680 g)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons honey (raw or mild-flavored)
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels to ensure crispy skin. Place them in a mixing bowl.
  2. Drizzle 1 tablespoon olive oil over the chicken. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, salt, and pepper evenly. Toss to coat all sides well.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and run empty for 5 minutes.
  4. Arrange the chicken thighs skin-side down in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 12 minutes.
  5. Flip the chicken thighs and cook for another 10-12 minutes until the skin is golden and crispy and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. While the chicken cooks, combine 3 tablespoons honey, 3 minced garlic cloves, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using) in a small saucepan. Warm over low heat, stirring until fragrant and slightly thickened, about 3-4 minutes. Avoid boiling hard to prevent burning the garlic.
  7. Transfer the cooked chicken to a plate and brush the honey-garlic glaze generously over each piece.
  8. Let the glaze set for a minute, then serve warm.

Notes

For extra crispy skin, dry the chicken and let it rest uncovered in the fridge for 15 minutes before cooking. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to maintain crispiness. Brush glaze only after cooking to prevent burning. If glaze thickens too much, stir in a splash of warm water to loosen it. Leftovers can be reheated in the air fryer at 350°F for 5 minutes to restore crispness.
