Decadent Turtle Lasagna Dessert Recipe with Rich Chocolate Layers Easy and Perfect

A quick and easy layered dessert combining chocolate pudding, caramel sauce, toasted pecans, and whipped topping on a graham cracker crust. Perfect for potlucks, holidays, or a comforting family treat.

  • 2 packets (6 oz / 170 g total) instant chocolate pudding mix (recommend Jell-O)
  • 4 cups (960 ml) whole milk (or dairy-free milk if needed)
  • 16 oz (450 g) whipped topping, thawed (like Cool Whip or homemade whipped cream)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) caramel sauce, store-bought or homemade (salted caramel preferred)
  • 2 cups (200 g) graham cracker crumbs, finely crushed (gluten-free crackers optional)
  • 1 cup (120 g) chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) melted butter
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar, and melted butter. Stir until mixture resembles wet sand. Press evenly into bottom of 9×13 inch baking dish. Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden and fragrant. Let cool completely.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes until thickened. Let set for 5 minutes.
  3. Toast chopped pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring frequently until fragrant and slightly darker.
  4. Spread half of the chocolate pudding evenly over the cooled crust. Drizzle 1/2 cup caramel sauce over pudding, then sprinkle half of the toasted pecans. Spread half of the whipped topping over the caramel and pecans.
  5. Repeat layers with remaining pudding, caramel sauce, pecans, and whipped topping. Smooth top layer with spatula. Optionally drizzle extra caramel and sprinkle pecans on top.
  6. Cover dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld and layers to set.

Notes

Let crust cool completely before adding pudding to prevent sliding layers. Toast pecans just before assembling for best flavor. Use a sharp knife dipped in hot water for clean slices. Warm caramel sauce slightly if too thick for easy drizzling. Whipped cream can be homemade or store-bought. Refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.
