A quick and healthy homemade trail mix made with just five simple ingredients, perfect for lunchboxes and on-the-go snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup raw almonds (140g)
  • ½ cup raw pumpkin seeds (pepitas) (65g)
  • ½ cup unsweetened dried cranberries (60g)
  • ½ cup dark chocolate chips or chunks (90g) (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Spread the almonds and pumpkin seeds evenly on the baking sheet. Toast them for 8-10 minutes, stirring halfway through, until light golden and aromatic.
  3. Remove the baking sheet and let the nuts cool for about 5 minutes.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the toasted nuts and seeds with the dried cranberries and dark chocolate chips.
  5. Sprinkle the sea salt flakes over the mixture and gently toss to distribute flavors evenly.
  6. Store the trail mix in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.

Notes

Toast nuts evenly in a single layer and stir halfway through to avoid burning. Cool nuts before mixing with chocolate to prevent melting. Store in an airtight container to keep fresh. Variations include nut-free options using roasted chickpeas and sunflower seeds, or adding spices like cinnamon or smoked paprika for flavor twists.
