Quick and fresh mini Caprese skewers made with cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, and drizzled with balsamic glaze. Perfect for parties and last-minute snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 cherry tomatoes, washed and dried
  • 20 small fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini), drained
  • 20 fresh basil leaves, gently washed and patted dry
  • 1/4 cup balsamic glaze
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • About 20 toothpicks or mini skewers (wooden or bamboo)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves gently under cold water. Drain the fresh mozzarella balls well to avoid sogginess. If tomatoes are large, slice them in half.
  2. Take a toothpick or mini skewer and thread on one cherry tomato, followed by a fresh basil leaf (folded if large), then a mozzarella ball. Repeat until all ingredients are used to make about 20 skewers.
  3. Arrange the skewers neatly on a serving platter. Lightly sprinkle with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil if using.
  4. Using a spoon or squeeze bottle, drizzle the balsamic glaze over the skewers just before serving.
  5. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate for up to 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Pat mozzarella balls dry to avoid soggy skewers. Drizzle balsamic glaze just before serving to keep basil fresh and tomatoes firm. Can substitute cherry tomatoes with grape or small heirloom tomatoes. For dairy-free, use marinated tofu or vegan cheese balls. Store skewers uncovered or lightly covered in fridge if assembled early.
