Quick and wholesome no-bake energy balls made with peanut butter, oats, and chocolate chips. Perfect for a healthy snack that comes together in minutes without baking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (90 g)
  • 1/2 cup natural creamy peanut butter (130 g)
  • 1/3 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips (60 g)
  • 1/4 cup honey (85 g)
  • 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed (14 g) (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats, 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed, 1 tablespoon chia seeds (if using), and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Stir to mix evenly.
  2. Add 1/2 cup natural creamy peanut butter, 1/4 cup honey, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to the dry ingredients.
  3. Mix thoroughly with a spatula or wooden spoon for 2-3 minutes until the mixture comes together. Adjust moisture by adding a teaspoon of water or more honey if too dry, or more oats if too wet.
  4. Fold in 1/3 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips gently to distribute evenly.
  5. Scoop about 1.5 tablespoons (roughly 20 g) of mixture and roll into tight balls. Place on a baking sheet or plate lined with parchment or a silicone mat. Wet hands or dust with oats if mixture sticks.
  6. Refrigerate the energy balls for at least 30 minutes to firm up before serving.

Notes

Use natural peanut butter without added sugar or oils for best results. Adjust honey amount based on moisture. Chill thoroughly to prevent crumbling. Mini chocolate chips work best to avoid breaking texture. For nut-free version, substitute peanut butter with sunflower seed butter and flaxseed with pumpkin seeds. Protein powder can be added to boost protein content.
