easy simple cocktail recipe - featured image

A quick and easy cocktail featuring fresh mint, lime juice, simple syrup, white rum, and soda water, perfect for refreshing moments and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 810 fresh mint leaves
  • Juice of 1 large lime (about 1 oz / 30 ml)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) simple syrup
  • 2 oz (60 ml) white rum
  • 3 oz (90 ml) soda water
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime wedge and mint sprig for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place fresh mint leaves and fresh lime juice into a mixing glass. Gently muddle with a muddler or spoon for 20-30 seconds to release oils without shredding the leaves.
  2. Add 1 oz (30 ml) simple syrup and 2 oz (60 ml) white rum. Fill the glass halfway with ice cubes. Stir gently for about 15 seconds to blend flavors. Optionally, shake with ice for a chilled drink.
  3. Top the glass with 3 oz (90 ml) soda water and stir gently. Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint. Serve immediately.

Notes

Press gently on mint leaves to avoid bitterness. Use fresh lime juice and fresh mint for best flavor. Use clear, fresh ice cubes to keep the drink crisp. Serve immediately to preserve fizz and freshness. Simple syrup can be stored refrigerated for up to two weeks. Variations include substituting simple syrup with honey or agave nectar, swapping soda water for sparkling mineral water, or adding berries or herbs for flavor twists.
