This homemade cranberry powder captures the tangy sweetness of fresh cranberries in a shelf-stable format, perfect for adding a burst of flavor to dishes year-round.

Ingredients

  • Fresh cranberries, washed and dried thoroughly
  • Lemon juice
  • Optional sweetener: granulated sugar or honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to its lowest temperature setting, usually between 140°F (60°C) and 170°F (75°C). If you’re using a dehydrator, set it to 135°F (57°C).
  2. Rinse the fresh cranberries under cold water to remove any dirt or debris. Pat them dry using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
  3. Spread the cranberries evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or on the dehydrator trays.
  4. Place the tray in the oven or dehydrator and let the cranberries dry for 6-8 hours. Be sure to check every hour after the first 5 hours to avoid over-drying. The cranberries are done when they are shriveled, hard, and no longer sticky.
  5. Allow the cranberries to cool completely before moving to the next step.
  6. Transfer the dried cranberries to a blender or food processor. Pulse until they form a fine powder. (If you prefer a coarser texture, pulse less frequently.)
  7. Add the optional sweetener and lemon juice directly to the powder if desired, mixing well to incorporate.
  8. Store the cranberry powder in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.

Notes

[‘Be patient during the drying process to ensure cranberries are fully dried.’, ‘Use a high-powered blender or food processor for the smoothest results.’, ‘Sift the powder through a fine-mesh sieve for a smoother consistency.’, ‘Clean equipment promptly to avoid staining from cranberries.’]
