Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
  • Ice (for chilling)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish (or more, for extra kick)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped capers
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel and devein the shrimp, leaving the tails intact.
  2. Fill a large pot with 4 cups of water, and add the sliced lemon, smashed garlic cloves, and Old Bay seasoning. Bring the water to a rolling boil.
  3. Carefully add the shrimp to the boiling water. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.
  4. Remove the shrimp from the pot using a slotted spoon or tongs, and transfer them to a large bowl filled with ice water to stop the cooking process.
  5. Prepare the spicy remoulade sauce by combining mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, horseradish, smoked paprika, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, chopped capers, and minced garlic in a mixing bowl. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  6. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as needed. Add more hot sauce for extra spice or more lemon juice for added tang.
  7. Drain the chilled shrimp and pat them dry with a paper towel. Arrange them on a serving platter or bowl.
  8. Serve the shrimp alongside the spicy remoulade sauce. Garnish with fresh parsley or lemon wedges for a pop of color.
