A rich and creamy hot chocolate with a unique savory depth from turkey bone broth, perfect for cozy nights and chilly evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups turkey bone broth (homemade or store-bought, unsalted is best)
  • 1 cup milk (whole milk for creaminess or almond milk for a dairy-free option)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (Dutch-processed works well)
  • 2 ounces dark chocolate, chopped (70% cocoa for a rich flavor)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for a vegan alternative)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of sea salt
  • Optional toppings: whipped cream, marshmallows, or a sprinkle of cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, add 2 cups of turkey bone broth and 1 cup of milk. Heat over medium heat until warm but not boiling, about 5 minutes.
  2. Whisk in 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder. Stir thoroughly to ensure there are no lumps. (Tip: Sift the cocoa powder beforehand for a smoother mix.)
  3. Add 2 ounces of chopped dark chocolate. Stir until fully melted and combined, about 3 minutes. You’ll know it’s ready when the mixture turns rich and glossy.
  4. Sweeten your hot chocolate with 2 tablespoons of honey (or maple syrup). Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  5. Pour in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt. Stir to blend the flavors together.
  6. Remove from heat and ladle the hot chocolate into mugs. Top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or a sprinkle of cocoa powder for extra indulgence!

Notes

Don’t boil the milk to avoid a scalded taste. Use high-quality chocolate for richer flavor. Sift cocoa powder to avoid clumps. Experiment with toppings like crushed peppermint or caramel drizzle.
