These cozy mummy hot dogs are a fun, flaky, and savory Halloween snack that kids and adults love. Wrapped in crescent dough and baked until golden, they’re perfect for parties, festive dinners, or a quick treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (or puff pastry, if preferred)
  • 8 regular hot dogs (beef, chicken, turkey, or veggie)
  • 16 small candy eyes (or dots of mustard, ketchup, or black olive slices)
  • Ketchup and mustard (for dipping, optional)
  • Ranch or spicy mayo (for dipping, optional)
  • Butter or egg wash (optional, for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll crescent roll dough onto a clean surface. If using puff pastry, roll out to about 1/8 inch thickness. Slice dough into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide.
  3. Wrap each hot dog with dough strips, overlapping and leaving a gap near the top for the ‘face.’ Repeat for all hot dogs.
  4. Place wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 1 inch apart. Brush lightly with melted butter or egg wash if desired.
  5. Bake for 13-15 minutes, until dough is golden and puffed.
  6. Let cool for 2-3 minutes, then add candy eyes using a dab of ketchup or mustard as ‘glue.’ If using olive slices, gently press into the dough.
  7. Serve warm on a festive platter with dipping sauces.

Notes

Chill dough before slicing for easier handling. Use thin strips for crispier results. For vegetarian or gluten-free options, substitute plant-based hot dogs and gluten-free dough. Can be prepped ahead and baked just before serving. Leftovers can be refrigerated or frozen and reheated for best texture.
