Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 2 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • 2 cups Wheat Chex cereal
  • 1 cup pretzel sticks
  • 1/2 cup mini salted peanuts
  • 1/2 cup roasted almonds (optional)
  • 1 cup red & green holiday M&Ms
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup or honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Wheat Chex, pretzel sticks, mini salted peanuts, and roasted almonds. Toss gently to combine.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt unsalted butter. Add light brown sugar and maple syrup or honey. Microwave for 1 minute, stir, then heat for another 30 seconds until bubbling. Stir in vanilla extract and flaky sea salt.
  3. Pour the hot caramel mixture over the cereal and nut mixture. Use a rubber spatula to gently fold until everything is well-coated. Work quickly as the caramel sets fast.
  4. For extra crunch, spread the coated mix onto a large rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 275°F for 10–12 minutes, stirring halfway. (Skip baking for a softer texture.)
  5. Once removed from the oven (or after cooling, if skipping baking), sprinkle red & green M&Ms, mini marshmallows, and white chocolate chips evenly over the mix. Let cool for 15–20 minutes.
  6. Once cooled, gently break the mix into bite-sized clusters. Taste-test for seasoning and add more flaky salt if desired.
  7. Transfer to airtight containers or zip-top bags. Store at room temperature for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to 2 months. Serve in festive bowls or wrap up in cellophane bags for gifting.

Notes

For gluten-free, skip Wheat Chex and use gluten-free pretzels. For nut-free, omit peanuts and almonds or substitute with seeds. For dairy-free, swap butter for coconut oil. Add mix-ins like dried cranberries or peppermint candies for seasonal variation. Don’t overmix to avoid breaking cereal. Store in airtight containers for best freshness.
