Ingredients

  • Prosciutto (thinly sliced, about 4 oz / 115g)
  • Soppressata or hard salami (sliced, 4 oz / 115g)
  • Smoked turkey or ham slices (optional, 4 oz / 115g)
  • Sharp cheddar, cubed (about 6 oz / 170g)
  • Brie (small wheel, about 8 oz / 225g, room temperature for easy spreading)
  • Blue cheese crumbles (about 3 oz / 85g)
  • Manchego slices (about 4 oz / 115g)
  • Seedless grapes (1 cup / 150g, red or green)
  • Fresh figs, halved (seasonal, about 6 whole)
  • Baby carrots or snap peas
  • Thin apple slices (1 medium apple, tart varieties like Granny Smith)
  • Marcona almonds (1/2 cup / 60g, lightly salted)
  • Walnuts or pecans, toasted (1/2 cup / 60g)
  • Dried apricots or cranberries (1/3 cup / 40g)
  • Olives (kalamata or green, pitted, 1/2 cup / 75g)
  • Whole grain mustard (2 tbsp / 30ml)
  • Honey (2 tbsp / 30ml)
  • Homemade honey mustard dip (mix 2 tbsp honey, 2 tbsp mustard, 1 tbsp mayo)
  • Baguette slices, toasted (1 small baguette, cut diagonally)
  • Assorted crackers (gluten-free options available)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients (10-15 minutes): Wash and dry all fresh produce thoroughly. Slice the baguette diagonally, then toast lightly until golden. Cut cheeses into bite-sized cubes or slices, leaving the brie wheel whole but scoring a few shallow cuts for easy spreading. Halve the figs and apples, and keep grapes on small stems for easy picking.
  2. Arrange Meats and Cheeses (10 minutes): Start by placing the larger cheese pieces spaced evenly across the board. Fold or roll prosciutto and soppressata slices into loose ribbons or rosettes, then nestle them between cheeses. Add smoked turkey slices if using.
  3. Add Fresh Fruits and Veggies (5-7 minutes): Fill in gaps with grapes, fig halves, apple slices, and baby carrots. Keep colors balanced across the board.
  4. Fill Bowls and Add Nuts (5 minutes): Place olives, honey mustard dip, and whole grain mustard in small bowls or ramekins. Scatter Marcona almonds, toasted walnuts, and dried fruit around the board. Toast nuts lightly in a dry pan for 2-3 minutes if desired.
  5. Final Touches (2-3 minutes): Drizzle honey over the brie and some apple slices. Arrange crackers and baguette slices along the edges or in a separate basket. Garnish with fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs.

Notes

Keep all cold ingredients chilled until just before serving. Assemble fully just before guests arrive for freshness. Toast nuts lightly to enhance aroma and crunch. Use local artisanal cheeses for best flavor. For vegan or dairy-free diets, swap cheeses for plant-based nut cheeses and add extra fruits and nuts. Store crackers separately to avoid sogginess.
