Perfect Red White and Blue Jello Shots with Vodka

A festive and easy-to-make layered jello shot recipe featuring red strawberry, white creamy coconut, and blue blueberry gelatin layers with vodka, perfect for patriotic celebrations.

  • 2 cups (480 ml) hot water (red layer)
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) strawberry or cherry flavored gelatin (red layer)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water (red layer)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka (red layer)
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin (white layer)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) full-fat coconut milk (white layer)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sweetened condensed milk (white layer)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) vodka (white layer)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) hot water (white layer)
  • 2 cups (480 ml) hot water (blue layer)
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blueberry or raspberry flavored gelatin (blue layer)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water (blue layer)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka (blue layer)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: Dissolve strawberry gelatin powder in 2 cups hot water, stir until dissolved (about 2 minutes). Add 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup vodka, mix gently. Pour into a 9×13 inch dish and refrigerate for about 45 minutes until firm but not fully set.
  2. Prepare the White Layer: Sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water and let bloom for 5 minutes. Warm 1/2 cup hot water and stir in bloomed gelatin until dissolved. Combine coconut milk and sweetened condensed milk in another bowl, add dissolved gelatin mixture and 1/4 cup vodka, stir until smooth. Gently pour over the red layer and refrigerate for another 45 minutes to firm up.
  3. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve blueberry gelatin powder in 2 cups hot water, stir thoroughly. Add 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup vodka, mix gently. Pour carefully over the set white layer without disturbing it. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until fully set.
  4. Cut and Serve: Once firm, cut into squares or scoop into individual shot glasses. Keep refrigerated until serving.

Notes

Pour each gelatin layer slowly over the back of a spoon to avoid mixing layers. Bloom gelatin powder before dissolving to avoid clumps. Use quality vodka for best flavor and proper setting. For non-alcoholic versions, replace vodka with cold water or fruit juice. Chill each layer until firm but not rock-hard before adding the next.
