A flavor-packed, probiotic-rich drink that combines the tangy fizz of kombucha with the warm, cozy flavors of pumpkin spice, perfect for autumn gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 quart plain kombucha (homemade or store-bought, unflavored)
  • 3 tablespoons pumpkin puree (pure pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: A pinch of ground ginger or cardamom

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients: Gather all your spices, pumpkin puree, and maple syrup. Make sure your kombucha is at room temperature.
  2. Combine the pumpkin spice mixture: In a small bowl, mix the pumpkin puree, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and vanilla extract until well blended. You can add a pinch of ginger or cardamom if you want to experiment with the flavor profile.
  3. Add the mixture to the kombucha: Pour the pumpkin spice mixture into your kombucha and stir gently with a non-metallic spoon to combine. Be careful not to stir too vigorously to avoid disturbing the natural carbonation.
  4. Bottle the kombucha: Using a funnel, pour the mixture into your glass bottles or jars. Leave about an inch of space at the top to allow for carbonation.
  5. Ferment: Seal the bottles tightly and leave them at room temperature for 2-3 days to allow the flavors to meld and carbonation to build. Check the bottles daily to make sure the pressure doesn’t get too high.
  6. Strain and refrigerate: Once the fermentation is complete, strain the kombucha through a fine mesh strainer to remove any spice sediments. Cap the bottles and store them in the fridge.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Chill the kombucha thoroughly before serving. Pour into glasses and enjoy the fizzy, spiced goodness!

Notes

[‘Don’t rush the fermentation: Give your kombucha enough time to carbonate fully.’, ‘Keep it clean: Always sterilize your equipment to prevent any unwanted bacteria.’, ‘Adjust spices to taste: Start with the suggested amounts, but tweak them to suit your palate.’, ‘Use fresh ingredients: Freshly ground spices provide a more robust flavor.’, ‘Test your bottles: Check the pressure daily during fermentation by opening the bottle slightly.’]
