A quick and easy frozen strawberry margarita recipe featuring fresh lime juice, ripe strawberries, and a perfect balance of tequila and sweetness. Ideal for summer parties and spontaneous gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 large limes)
  • 1 cup silver tequila (240 ml)
  • 1/4 cup triple sec or orange liqueur (60 ml)
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup (60 ml)
  • 3 cups ice cubes (about 450 grams)
  • Coarse salt (optional, for rimming glasses)
  • Lime wedges (for garnish and rimming glasses)

Instructions

  1. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each glass, then dip into coarse salt. Set aside to dry.
  2. Squeeze fresh limes to get about 1/4 cup (60 ml) of juice. Strain if desired.
  3. Rinse and hull about 2 cups (300 grams) of strawberries. Halve or quarter larger berries.
  4. Add strawberries, lime juice, silver tequila, triple sec, simple syrup, and ice cubes into a high-powered blender.
  5. Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until smooth but slightly slushy. Adjust thickness by adding cold water or more ice as needed.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness or lime juice to preference.
  7. Pour into prepared glasses and garnish with lime wedges or fresh strawberries.
  8. Serve immediately while icy and refreshing.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best flavor; avoid bottled lime juice. Pulse blender gently to maintain a slushy texture without watering down. For smoother texture, blend strawberries with tequila first before adding ice. Freeze strawberries in advance to keep drink cold without dilution. Rim glasses with coarse salt for contrast. Adjust sweetness with simple syrup or alternatives like agave nectar or honey syrup. Non-alcoholic version can be made by replacing tequila and triple sec with sparkling water and orange juice.
