A simple, satisfying, and smoky party snack featuring cocktail-sized smoked sausages wrapped in crispy bacon and glazed with a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound cocktail-sized smoked sausages (little smokies)
  • 8 to 10 slices thin-cut bacon, sliced in half
  • 3/4 cup BBQ sauce (smoky, tangy, slightly spicy and sweet)
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • Optional: pinch of smoked paprika or cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Slice each bacon strip in half crosswise to create thinner pieces.
  3. Wrap each little smoky tightly with a half-slice of bacon. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
  4. In a bowl, combine BBQ sauce, brown sugar, and optional smoked paprika or cayenne pepper. Stir until sugar dissolves slightly.
  5. Add bacon-wrapped smokies to the bowl and gently coat each piece with the BBQ glaze.
  6. Arrange coated smokies in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, turning each smoky halfway through to crisp bacon evenly and caramelize glaze.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving to allow glaze to thicken.

Notes

Watch the smokies closely in the last 5 minutes to prevent burning. Use thin-cut bacon for best crispiness. Turn halfway through baking for even caramelization. Can be kept warm in a low oven before serving. For grilling, place on skewers and grill over medium heat for 15-20 minutes, turning often.
