A quick and festive patriotic snack combining salty pretzels with colorful red, white, and blue candy melts, perfect for 4th of July celebrations and summer gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 cups mini pretzel twists or sticks
  • 6 oz red candy melts
  • 6 oz white candy melts
  • 6 oz blue candy melts
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or coconut oil
  • 1/3 cup red, white, and blue star-shaped or round sprinkles
  • Sea salt, a light sprinkle (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Spread the mini pretzels evenly in a single layer across the sheet.
  2. Place each color (red, white, and blue) candy melts in separate microwave-safe bowls. Add about 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil to each bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each until completely melted and silky.
  3. Drizzle or spoon the white candy melt over the pretzels, covering them lightly but leaving some pretzel edges visible. Alternate small spoonfuls of red and blue candy melts on top to create a marbled star-spangled look.
  4. Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the candy melts together on the baking sheet to create a unique festive pattern.
  5. Immediately sprinkle the red, white, and blue decorations over the wet candy melts generously.
  6. Let the bark sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or place it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to speed up hardening.
  7. Once fully set, lift the bark off the parchment and break it into irregular pieces.

Notes

If candy melts harden while working, reheat briefly in microwave for 10-15 seconds. Avoid overcrowding pretzels to ensure good candy coating. Use good quality pretzels for best texture. For gluten-free, use gluten-free pretzels; for dairy-free, use dairy-free candy melts and skip white chocolate chips or use a dairy-free alternative.
